Analytical to semi-prep HPLC

Purpose of this Equipment
: can be used as an analytical HPLC and for scaling-up flows to work with larger capacity preparative scale columns to isolate, purify and collect moderate quantities of sample components of interest.
Information: flow rates of 0.025 mL/min up to 200 mL/min. Suitable for use with both 4.6 mm ID analytical columns and 2 inch semi-preparative columns. Binary gradient solvent delivery. Autosampler. PDA detector 210-900 nm. Fraction collector.

Bioscope II atomic Force Microscope

Purpose of this Equipment
: Simultaneous Atomic Force Microscopy and Fluorescence Imaging
Information: perform AFM and fluorescence of "dry" and "wet" samples using a heated & humidity controlled liquid perfusion chamber. High resolution imaging capability (512-512 pixel density). High speed data capture 50MHz. Resolution Z-direction 0.1 nm in air and 0.2 nm in water. Environmental control of liquid, chemical and gaseous environment. Holders for a range of sample.

Purpose of this Equipment
: Real time detection of surface characterisation- binding affinities and layer deposition properties
Information:Absorption and/or immobilisation of biomolecules (real time) and in an aqueous environment. Binding of small molecules to immobilised biorecognition elements (real time). Quantitative information on the thickness and density. Angstrom resolution. Quantitative measurement of biomolecule dimensions, density and mass change. FTIR Microscope

Purpose of this Equipment
: Fourier Transform Infrared imaging and spectroscopy
Information: combines a traditional infrared interferometric optical bench with a microscope for vibrational spectroscopy and imaging of samples. Reflection and transmission capabilities with Cassegrain microscope objectives. Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) capabilities above 600 cm-1. Grazing angle reflection (65°- 85°) capable of analysing very thin coatings. Motorised x-y stage.

Purpose of this Equipment
: Particle sizing and zeta analysis of particles 0.6nm- 0.7miron. Tritation of both suspensions and solid phase samples
Information: measure particles in the size range < 1nm to 7 micron in diameter. Zeta potential analysis. Sample temperature control. Pulse Interleaved fluorescence lifetime imaging microscope (PIE-FLIM)

Purpose of this Equipment
: Real time monitoring of fluorescence lifetimes with single molecule sensitivity and the capability of multiple configurations such as Forster Resonance Transfer (FRET), Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (FLIM), Time Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC), Fluorescence Correlated Spectroscopy (FCS) and Pulse-Interleaved Excitation (PIE) FRET/FLIM and Two-Focus Fluorescence Correlated Spectroscopy (2-F-FCS).
Information: laser heads for 440nm, 532 nm and 638nm. Dual channel detection (APD). Single photon counting. 4 psec per time channel for measurements from 100 ps upwards (typical max. lifetime 10 micron). Wavelength detection range ca. 350nm- 950nm. Emission detection at 480nm, 570nm, 600-700nm. 100x, 40 oil and water immersion, 63x, 10x. Pulsed interleaved excitation.

Raman/AFM Microscope

Information: facilitates scanning probe and optical imaging and spectroscopy. Inverted and upright microscopes. Digital cameras for visible white light images. Multiple objectives: 10x, 20x, 50x, 60x, oil immersion, 100x. Multiple laser wavelengths: 473nm, 532nm, 633nm. Two gratings for high spectral resolution and/or fast acquisition of wide spectral ranges. Two Peltier cooled CCDs for low noise and high sensitivity, one electron-multiplication capability. Rapid beam scanner. Multiple AFM imaging modes. Force curves. Subnanometer topographical resolution. Tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy.

3D Image Capture System


 Provides the user with the ability to capture a high resolution three dimensional colour image of a subjects face.
Information: The equipment comprises of 4 high resolution cameras and their lenses, flashes and synchronisation box as well as sophisticated software for calculating the 3D position of every point based on the 4 images of the face taken in a stereo matching algorithim. The system is very accurate with a level of noise of less than 0.3mm point.
