Tissue Optics and Microcirculation Imaging NBIPMOD25

This is a basic tissue optics course which aims to provide the non-physical scientist with a good grounding in the physics of light interaction with human or animal tissue. Many of the same phenomena apply to other forms of radiation. The student will become familiar with scattering, absorption, anisotropy, albedo, de-polarisation etc. and their application to diagnosis and therapy. It also gives a short introduction to laser safety for those who might have occasion to design/operate laser based equipment. Level 1; Course Director: Martin Leahy UL.
