This research aims to develop new diagnostic tools which quantify structural and functional changes in large and small arterial vessels, and to evaluate the efficacy of novel targeted therapeutics of cardiovascular disease so as to optimise salvage of tissue and organ function. The diagnostic work investigates enhanced retinal microvessel diameter quantificaion, optical coherence tomography in the determination of tissue viability and computer aided diagnosis of early and advanced vascular disease from ultrasound images. While the targeted therapeutics work evaluates targeted therapeutics in acute myocardial infarction and ultrasonic targeting of therapeutic agents using liposome microparticles.
